QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) elevate the experience of the previous generation with an all-new design and several new or improved features, including: TrueSpatial Technology for immersive sound and ActiveSense Technology for adaptive noise cancellation in Aware Mode.
Yes. The USB-C connector provides the option of wired listening, even for analogue sources. The included USB-C to USB-C cable not only charges your headphones while listening, but also allows USB audio to pass to and from your headphones. With wired audio, you can experience Lossless input up to 24 bit/48 kHz and have voice output signal up to 24 bit/16 kHz. For analogue audio sources with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, for in-flight entertainment or computer for example, there’s a 3.5 mm to USB-C cable included.
Yes. Use the Bose app to disable noise cancelling while listening to your audio. Doing this will increase battery life, but you will not hear your own voice in your headphones during phone calls.
Cinema Mode is a specially tuned version of Bose Immersive Audio made for screen viewing. Immersive Audio allows the listener to hear audio as if it were coming from beyond the earcups of your QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), allowing for a more spacious, natural listening experience. Cinema Mode builds on this concept by spatializing the content from your video source while rendering dialogue to be centred in front where you view the screen.
Aware Mode, also known as “transparency,” uses the microphone arrays in your headphones to detect your surroundings and recreate them in your headphones, so you can clearly hear your environment around you without sounding like your ears are covered. When ANC is turned off, the microphone arrays are disabled and noise cancelling functionality is disabled.
Yes. Bluetooth® multipoint technology allows Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) to maintain a connection to two devices at the same time. If your headphones have been paired to more than two devices, they will connect to the two most recently connected devices when the headphones are powered on.
Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) utilize both active and passive noise reduction technologies. They use a sophisticated proprietary electronics approach for active noise reduction, placing microphones both inside and outside the earcups. The electronics system senses the sound in almost any environment and then measures, compares, and reacts—instant by instant—to produce an opposing cancellation signal. Meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of earcup fit, design, and clamping force of the headband.
First, make sure your headphones are turned on with the slider switch in the middle “On” position. Next, slide and hold the switch to the Bluetooth icon until the Bluetooth LED flashes blue or when the voice prompt indicates the headphones have entered into pairing mode. Please note, if this is your first time connecting the headphones, they will automatically turn on in pairing mode. Voice prompts will provide you with additional guidance. We recommend using the Bose app to complete the pairing process. However, Bluetooth settings on your device can be used to complete pairing.
Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) have a range of up to 30 ft (9 m) from the source device. This range may be reduced by physical obstructions, such as walls and doors, or by interference from other electronic devices. Pops or a cracking noise may be heard if there’s interference with the Bluetooth connection. If that happens, move away from wireless routers or microwaves, and bring your headphones closer to the Bluetooth device.
Active EQ (equalization) involves electronically tuning the frequency response to closely match the proprietary Bose response curve for headphone audio. The closer the frequency response comes to matching the target curve, the more lifelike the audio performance.
Yes. You can continue to listen to your source even if the battery power is depleted. Without power, the headphones operate in a passive mode, and neither active noise cancellation nor Active EQ is able to function.
